Task one - Special features

Try out some of the special things that we can do. You will not find these special features on all wiki pages.

Click on the special "Yackpack" feature - it lets you to talk to others on-line at the same time.

What else can we do?

Check that your page is ready for you to use. If you have permission, next to your name you will see the word "Ready". If it is not there, then ask for permission to participate!

You are responsible for what you write. If you include personal details, you are responsible for them.

The course is protected by a form of copyright. On the Sidebar, a copyright notice shows the pages are "owned" by the creator but anyone can add or change them. Changes are made part of the wiki and are "owned" by the wiki owner.

This sort of protection is often called copyleft. The course uses a Creative Commons licence to stop anyone using it for profit. You should consider similar protection for your own pages.

Task two - Build your own page

Now you are ready to start building your own page. For now, keep it simple. Click on the link beside your name and make a new page. There is a template for learner's pages.

On the new page, add a your name and a brief description of yourself - but remember not to give away information that is too personal.

A picture would be nice, like the one of your tutor. That means we can take a break and look at how to use a digital camera.

And Finally...

Now that the course is coming to an end, you should have had chance to create a podcast. Your tutor will have taken those recordings and put them together to make a radio show - so let's listen to it and see what you think of your very own podcast!

Just click the podcast link to listen to your class podcast.
